Young Stunna has fired the first shot of amapiano’s festive season. “It’s a PIANO HUB summer. Good luck to everyone dropping this coming season,” the vocalist wrote on his Instagram Stories on 7 October, a warning aimed at every artist planning a December release.
The post was playful, but it was not empty. Kabza De Small’s Piano Hub label is lining up back-to-back projects for October and November, The Yanos reported, with a possible release from MDU aka TRP also in the mix. At the top of the list is Kabza’s own album, Tutu, which Apple Music now lists for 27 November after two earlier dates passed.

Why December decides the year
In South Africa, the summer holidays are amapiano’s main event. Clubs, festivals, radio stations, taxi ranks and house parties all compete to define the sound of the season, and the song that owns December often carries into the following year. Releasing in the months before the holidays gives a label multiple chances to land that record.
A label with a deep roster can do something a solo artist cannot: drop project after project and keep its name on every playlist through the season. That appears to be Piano Hub’s plan. Different artists reach different corners of the amapiano audience, from Kabza’s long-form, melodic records to the harder log-drum material of his collaborators.
The competition will be real. Xduppy, Sleazy and Optimist Music ZA have just posted the tracklist for Umswenko 2.0, which itself features Kabza on its opening track, and Tracy Vocals has announced her first solo EP, Azalondwe. “Gumba Fire” from Focalistic and friends is already a contender for the season’s anthem.

Stunna’s Piano Hub history
Young Stunna, born Sandile Msimango, has earned the right to talk. His rise is closely tied to Kabza De Small. He broke through in 2021 with “Adiwele,” alongside Kabza and DJ Maphorisa, from his debut album Notumato. He appears on Kabza’s KOA II Part 1, is part of the platinum Felo Le Tee and Mellow & Sleazy hit “Bopha,” and is credited as a writer and featured vocalist on “Imithandazo,” the Kabza and Mthunzi song that held amapiano’s sales record at 765,000 units until “Shela” passed it this month.
His voice, a bright, gospel-tinged tenor that sits above the log drum, has become one of the genre’s signatures. When he says it is a Piano Hub summer, he is speaking as one of the people most likely to be on those records.
Piano Hub has not published a full release calendar, and Stunna did not say which projects he meant. But the message fits a pattern. In 2019, Kabza and Maphorisa’s Scorpion Kings released two projects within weeks of each other in the run-up to December. Seven years later, the label appears to be preparing to do it again, on a bigger scale.
