March 2, 2025Mbombela, Mpumalanga – Thursday, 30 January 2025 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) top commercial radio station, METRO FM, tonight officially announced the launch of the METRO FM Music Awards 2025 (MMAs) in Mpumalanga. The Mpumalanga Provincial Government and The Motsepe Foundation have once again partnered with METRO FM to deliver yet another exhilarating edition of the renowned awards ceremony.
The launch brought together partners, key stakeholders, clients, and advertisers to celebrate the start of METRO FM’s awards season. It was revealed that this year, the awards will take place on Saturday, 03 May 2025, at Mbombela Stadium. Leading up to the awards, the nominees’ announcement event will take place on Thursday, 27 February 2025, where all the nominees in the respective categories will be revealed.
The MMAs are a prestigious event that recognizes and celebrates the best in South African music. According to Ms Nada Wotshela, SABC Group Executive: Radio, “The METRO FM Music Awards have a significant impact on the South African music industry and the country at large.
