When Paris Fashion Week calls, African music royalty answers. Nigerian superstar Davido joined an A-list crowd at AMIRI‘s Fall/Winter 2026 runway presentation. The show, held during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, marked another milestone in the growing intersection between African music and global luxury fashion. Mike Amiri’s Laurel Canyon-inspired collection provided the perfect backdrop for a front row that spanned continents and creative industries.

The Collection

Mike Amiri transported guests to 1970s Los Angeles for his Fall/Winter 2026 presentation. The collection drew inspiration from Laurel Canyon—the legendary hillside enclave that once housed rock icons like Joni Mitchell, The Byrds, and Frank Zappa. Consequently, the runway featured velvet-flocked denim, Western-style suits with metal-tipped lapels, and cognac leather jackets. Moreover, the colour palette evoked sun-bleached California: deep merlots, dusty sage greens, and vintage-tinged blues dominated the proceedings. Additionally, crystal-embroidered cardigans and embellished shirts demonstrated AMIRI’s signature approach to elevated Americana.

The Show Space

Rather than opting for a traditional runway setup, Amiri created an immersive environment. The space resembled a luxurious den in an idealised Laurel Canyon home. Furthermore, guests sat in leather armchairs on patchworked Persian rugs, surrounded by curated furniture and careworn objects. As a result, models moved through the space as inhabitants rather than performers. This approach reinforced the collection’s central philosophy: clothes that feel like an extension of identity. In contrast to conventional runway theatrics, the intimate setting invited guests inside rather than positioning them as outside observers.

Star-Studded Attendance

Davido’s presence underscored the growing connection between African music and luxury fashion. He joined an eclectic group of attendees that included Jeff Goldblum, Lennon Gallagher (son of Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher), and boxing champion Canelo Álvarez. Additionally, model Wisdom Kaye, French-Martinican rapper Kalash, and actress Heart Evangelista occupied front-row seats. This diverse lineup reflected AMIRI’s broad appeal across entertainment, sports, and music industries.

The Designer’s Vision

Mike Amiri articulated his approach in the show notes: “For me, men’s formalwear is most interesting when it feels effortless and personal. I love the idea of artists wearing tailoring in an informal way—a blazer over a Henley, boots instead of dress shoes.” Furthermore, he explained: “Clothes that feel like an extension of who you are. That balance is the sweet spot for AMIRI: something that can exist on stage but also walk right off into real life.” As an Iranian-American designer, Amiri has consistently used his platform to celebrate diversity and artistic expression. His collections continue to attract musicians, actors, and cultural figures who share his vision of fashion as personal narrative.
